And the Dulux colour for 2019 is Spiced Honey…

Dulux have just revealed the colour for 2019 as ‘Spiced Honey’.

Announced only yesterday at the iconic Gherkin building in London, this rich colour, with classic undertones, evoques a warm and inviting mixture of caramel and amber.

According to Dulux UK ‘think salted caramel with a hint of amber’ and at PLAANK we couldn’t agree more.

Launched at their press day yesterday, Dulux explained their reasons for choosing this colour for 2019.

'2018 has been an unsettling and unpredictable time,' began Dulux. 'We have been overwhelmed by the deluge of news, choices and demands upon our time, causing us to close up and retreat into spaces where we felt safe and cocooned.’

Their colour for 2018 certainly captured this. Somewhere between taupe and dusky mauve, ‘Heart Wood’ was definitely a safe and comforting colour.

With a hint of heather, it was chosen to add harmony and balance into peoples homes and was a perfect match to our Monte Viso Grey wall panelling.

'As we move forward into 2019’, Dulux continued, ‘people are re-energised and can now deal with the sense of unpredictability with positive action, optimism and purpose’. They added ‘if the unpredictability of last year forced people to retreat and regroup, 2019 is the time for their awakening.’

Heleen van Gent, who annually chairs the ColourFutures panel explains 'every year, we seek to transform a trend into a colour, that responds to consumer needs and enables them to bring positivity into their lives and into their homes. It’s time to act and Spiced Honey enables transformation inspiring a positive, emotional change.'

Creative director for Dulux UK, Marianne Shillingford explains that ‘Spiced Honey has a raw, natural quality that works like a warm neutral.’

In our opinion, it will be a sure fire hit with coffee lovers, especially those who drink Latte or Macchiato.

Red Rock Grey combines rich caramels and neutral tones with cool greys to offer a trendy wall panelling choice.

Equally, Rocky Mountain Grey has a key brown accent, which naturally occurs and is almost identical to the Dulux colour. This characteristic colouration, caused by the sun, is where the wood that supports the original wall from where it was reclaimed not being exposed.

Marianne added that ‘Spiced Honey’ was a perfect colour to pair with different materials and interior decoration styles.

We believe that this contemporary take on a heritage colour will add charm to any interior and be an ideal choice when teaming with some of our ranges.
